Be Vigilant Against Computer Viruses

One of the basic ways to protect your entity from computer viruses is to buy and install an antivirus program. This type of program scans for and detects computer viruses, prevents the viruses it finds from infecting your system and removes viruses that have already infiltrated the system. But having an antivirus program does not mean you can simply rest easy.

New viruses are introduced every day. They may possess traits that cannot be detected by your existing antivirus program. The program will continue to ward off those viruses that meet the definitions established when you had it installed, but new strains may go undetected. Thus, your entire system remains at risk, even though you have a state-of-the-art program in place.

Action idea: Keep on the lookout for updates. Frequently, you can find free upgrades of the antivirus product you have purchased on its company’s web site. Also, the program may offer an option for an automatic search and installation of new definitions. Make sure you check for antivirus upgrades on a regular basis.
