Putting a Committee Plan into Action
|
|
One possible way to improve the effectiveness of committees is to develop an annual plan. Of course, the nature of each plan will vary, according to the objectives of the committee, but here are some basic elements:
- The ultimate goal of the committee
- Specific and measurable objectives
- Detailed tasks assigned to committee members
- Designation of people responsible for each task
- The cost of each task
- A definite deadline for objectives.
Action idea: Include dates for a regular review of the plan’s progress. This enables committees to address any problems. It also provides a realistic look at future hurdles.
